Andrew's First Leap Day

Dearest Andrew,
Well today was a bit of an unusual day. Today was Leap Day. I know it occurs every 4 years, but I wasn’t exactly sure why. I looked it up on one of my favorite sites, Wikipedia, and this is what it said:

A leap year (or intercalary or bissextile year) is a year containing one additional day (or, in the case of lunisolar calendars, a month) in order to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year.

So did we do anything special? Not really. Did Mommy take any cute pictures of her precious boy on his first leap year? Nope. Did I take any pictures on this special day that only comes once every four years? Weeell, I did take a few pictures of your nursery because I was thinking how cute it was. That was it. Hehe, I guess it wasn’t that big of a deal to me after all. I still had to write something because the next time we will see one you will be FOUR almost FIVE years old! That seems like a lifetime away. Okay well, there wasn’t much point to this blog, but I at least thought I should mention it. I know, I know…Mommy’s weird. I love you little man!

Curious Andrew Meets Curious George

Dearest Andrew,
Sometimes you and Mommy like to snuggle up on the couch and watch a sweet little show called "Curious George". I wanted you to have something to watch every once in awhile, and this show is perfect. Just a wholesome little show about a monkey who is verrry curious (kind of like someone else I know...). When we first started watching it, you didn't really seem to care one way or the other. We have watched a couple of other things online, but mainly this is what we watch. Lately though when the show first starts and the theme music begins to play, your eyes light up, you get a huge grin on your face, and you begin to squeal with delight. It is ADORABLE!!! We have even got Daddy to sit down with us for an episode. We can hook up Mommy's computer to the big screen, and it fills the room. Now there isn't much we will watch, but this is something I think we will enjoy for a few years anyway.

Still Standing...and Standing...and Standing...

Dearest Andrew,
Well mister, ever since you learned to stand, you just won't stop! I put you in your pack n' play, you stand. I put you on the floor, you go to the couch or coffee table, and stand. I put you in your crib and, you guessed it, you stand. Even if you are dead-dog tired, you stand! Hehe! They say once you learn to walk, you will become obsessed with it! Well, you are obsessed with standing anyway! Mommy is getting a little less done these days so she can sit near you in case you fall. You fell once today and although you looked a bit stunned, you shook it off like a big boy! TOO BIG in Mommy's opinion! You are just growing up too fast! Sigh...

Oh well, we are still having a blast! Mommy and little Andrew...quite a "stand up" fella! Hehe!

Eight Months Old and Standing Tall

Dearest Andrew,
This week we went with Mimi to Mimi and Pop's cabin for a few days and we had so much fun! It is a beautiful place! They are getting it ready so that when you are a little older, you and your cousins can have many wonderful adventures there! During our stay we celebrated your first Valentine's Day and you turned EIGHT months old! Seriously! How can you be so old already? Sigh...

Anyway, standing on your own is something you have done a time or two, but while we were at the cabin, you decided you really liked to stand and you stood up on anything you could hold on to. Because of this (and because your mom is a "Nervous Nelly") we let you play in your Pack and Play a bit more. That didn't matter, you stood in that too! Mom will have to lighten up (it's SO hard) and realize you are fine. Standing is a vital part of the whole learning to walk process. You look really cute though and it makes you super duper excited!

Well, another milestone has come and gone. Another month older as well. It's hard to believe in four very short months we will be celebrating your first birthday. People told me kids grow up fast, and boy they weren't kidding! I am so extremely blessed to be able to spend as much time with the most precious person I have ever known! I love every second with you baby boy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Dearest Andrew,
Happy Valentine's Day. Here is the card that we sent out to all of your grandparents and aunts & uncles. You are so stinkin' cute! Abby was on the back (as well as the back of the Christmas card), but for some reason I don't have a copy of that. It's cute! You can see it in your baby book. Anyway, you are the cutest, sweetest little Valentine Mommy has ever had and I love you to pieces!

Mommy's Busy Little Bee

Dearest Andrew,
My, my, you have been a busy boy these last couple of days! On Moday you crawled (crawled!) for the first time, Tuesday you ate almost an entire thing of baby food for the first time (not just one or two bites), Wednesday you pulled yourself up into a sitting position for the first time and stood in the crib for the first time! What did I tell you? I am just so amazed at all you have done! You are just too wonderful for words mister! You have continued to eat every day and we have so much fun! When I put you in your high chair you just start laughing and smiling. You have also started a new laugh the last couple of days.

Okay, so Mommy has had such a wonderful few days of milestones, but I am ready things to slow down again. I love every single second we have together! Always, always know how much I love you!!!
