Dearest Andrew,
I am a *bit* behind on getting your Easter photos up. Okay, okay, I am really behind! I am a Mommy of a toddler (that toddler being Y-O-U) after all! Hehe! :)
You had so much fun this year! It was Easter number two for you, but this was your first year to hunt eggs. You caught on very quickly and had a blast! You got to hunt eggs at church and at home. We got you an Easter basket and had dinner here with family. It was such a special day. Oh, and you looked SO cute in your bowtie!!! Sigh... :) Even though you are a little too young to understand that, although hunting for eggs is fun and there is nothing wrong with that, Easter is really about our Lord and Savior rising from the grave.
"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words."
Luke 24:1-8
I am so thankful and grateful that Jesus not only died for our sins, but that He rose from the grave just as He said He would. We serve a mighty God! So yes, it's okay to hunt eggs, eat some candy, and gather for a meal of ham and sweet potatoes. That is precious family time. However, we must always celebrate Him first. We must hold Him in our hearts and serve Him not only on Christmas and Easter, but every day. Some day you will understand that. Right now, it sure is cute to watch you get excited about finding another egg! :)
